Kind, beautiful, talented, smart—I just can’t seem to gush enough about my amazing, wonderful daughters! They may be different in their own special ways, but a mother loves all her babies the same. So, here’s a guide to my dearest Lily, Amanda, and Kelly…ranked!
3. Kelly
Just knowing Kelly is bringing up the rear makes me positive I’m the luckiest woman in the world. Lily is smarter than I’ll ever be, Amanda is creative in ways her father and I never could have dreamed, and my precious last pick is so kind! I think about all the compliments I’ve gotten about my three beautiful daughters and I wonder, how could a mother ask for a better third place?
2. Amanda
No, it’s not always easy, and yes, I’ll admit we fight sometimes, but that doesn’t mean I love my firstborn any less than No. 1 or No. 3. These beautiful girls are why I wake up each morning, they are the lights of my life, and they are my best, second-best, and third-best friends!
When I gave birth to Amanda, I thought I could never feel more love toward anything in the entire world. Yet over the past 18 years, I’ve had no greater joy than watching her grow into an amazing artist and narrowly miss the first slot on this list!
1. Lily
Ah, my darling No. 1! Is Lily an amazing student? Yes. Was she recently named the salutatorian of her high school, beating out thousands of other distinguished classmates, and do we almost never fight? Yes and yes. But does that make her “better” than my bottom two daughters?
I would never forgive myself if they thought that were true!
How could a mother ever compare daughters who shine so brightly in their own special ways? Lily is so brilliant yet modest, and most nights is the glue that holds this family together. Amanda is so passionate about her art, yet Lily so clearly deserves her first-place rank. And is there anyone out there who is kinder than Kelly, except my current No. 1?
I will always love my babies equally, no matter how large the gap becomes between Lily and her nearest competitor. She could switch rankings with Amanda for all I care! They are my first through third loves, and I adore them so, so much! Mwah!
