As the founder and CEO of Facebook, I’m always thinking about ways to improve the site, and I’m often inspired by the world around me. After a personal experience I just had, I’ve come up with an idea that I feel will really enhance the user experience. I have just returned from the grocery store, and I now strongly believe that Facebook needs background music.
I’m back from the supermarket, and my time there has really stuck with me. Even though I’ve been to the grocery store many times, today’s visit was the first time I noticed the background music. I really liked it. I liked it so much, in fact, that I think Facebook should have background music as well. Nothing too musically complex—mostly ambient pieces. Just a little something to spice up reading your news feed.
Don’t worry, Facebook will still look and feel the same; just soon there will be background music playing constantly.
As I unloaded my groceries just moments ago, I couldn’t help but reminisce about how much I enjoyed listening to the tunes at the grocery store earlier today. It was a wonderful bonus to my shopping experience. But while grocery stores have background music, Facebook does not, and this is a problem I am adamant about remedying. If my trip to the supermarket taught me anything, it’s that this is a necessary and long overdue addition to my website.
Don’t worry, Facebook will still look and feel the same; just soon there will be background music playing constantly. I’m always making small tweaks to the site, like allowing for GIF functionality and reacting with emojis, and this is the latest little improvement to what I consider the best website on the internet: Facebook.
When I left for the grocery store this morning, I never thought I would’ve been inspired in the way I was. But now that I’ve returned with all this newfound wisdom, I see no clearer path for Facebook than the one that involves adding background music. I can’t wait to roll out this new feature sometime in the near future! I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!
