Now this is pretty exciting.
If you happen to find yourself in Hilliard, OH, you’ll definitely want to stop by Mama Tucker’s Country Kitchen, because it turns out that this charming little restaurant is one of those places where you get to throw peanut shells on the floor.
Can we get a “Hell yeah!”?
The moment you walk in the door, you’ll see a repurposed whiskey barrel next to the hostess stand that’s filled to the top with—you guessed it—free peanuts. Guests are welcome to fill up a basket and snack on them while waiting to be seated, and the best part is that you don’t even have to bother cleaning up after yourself—just toss the shells on the floor and keep munching. Presumably, someone comes around at the end of the day with a big broom and sweeps the floor clean, although once the doors open the following day, you can bet the floor doesn’t stay clean for very long!
“My kids love throwing the peanut shells on the floor,” said Yelp user Lonnie K. in a recent review. “It’s the only time they know they can get away with making a mess without getting in trouble.”
“In most restaurants, it’s not allowed to throw peanut shells on the floor, but in this one, it is allowed,” he added.
While the peanuts are an awesome touch, you’ll want to make sure that you don’t wear sandals to Mama Tucker’s, or else you’ll end up with little bits of peanut shell stuck to the bottom of your feet. Aside from that, the peanuts are a pretty cool treat, and being able to just toss the shells on the floor is a fun little thrill. These are just two of the many reasons why Mama Tucker’s is one of Ohio’s premier destinations for down-home country cooking.
So, what are you waiting for? Hurry on down to Mama Tucker’s and get crackin’—literally!
