Everyone’s a bit delusional sometimes, but here’s a story about a woman who is in desperate need of a reality check: This woman who just killed a child thinks she’s ready for a houseplant.
Seriously, lady? What makes you think you can care for a monstera when you couldn’t even handle a baby?
It’s understandable that at age 36, Molly Whitemarsh of Minneapolis is feeling the societal pressure to get her act together and start tending to a couple of houseplants and succulents. Realistically speaking though, she’s definitely not ready for such a big step considering the fact that last year she gave birth to a baby boy and she literally couldn’t even keep him alive for more than a few months.
Like, does Molly even realize that a plant can live for decades?
Sorry, but there’s just no way in hell that this woman is going to find the wherewithal to water a plant three times a week and trim the dead leaves when she couldn’t even manage something as low-maintenance as a three-month-old.
One of Molly’s friends seriously needs to level with her. This is a girl who can barely feed herself for dinner, spends most of her time watching Netflix, and straight up let her child die due to negligence: she definitely is not about to start propagating a pothos.
Molly’s reportedly been rearranging the furniture in her living room to make space for a plant that will need a moderate amount of light, which unfortunately just reminds us of the time she turned her office into a nursery for her baby boy. And would you remind us, Molly, of how that worked out? It’s only a matter of time until this new little obsession of hers ends in flames too.
We’re rooting for you, Molly, we really are. We’re just trying to stay realistic. Plant ownership isn’t for everyone—and if you couldn’t handle parenting, tending to a fern probably isn’t for you.
