If you’re looking for someone to call Father of the Year, then look no further than Michael Cameron of Cincinnati, Ohio. When Michael found out that his 12-year-old daughter, Allison, was being teased because of her weight, this super dad stepped up in a big way by teaching his little girl how to really go after someone’s socioeconomic status.
Can you say best dad ever?
After Michael came across a post on his daughter’s Facebook bullying her about her weight, he took action. He sat his daughter down, made sure she understood that she was perfect just the way she was, and then encouraged her to retaliate by taking jabs at the fact that her bully’s father had been laid off from his job last year and her mother was on disability, which is not enough to support a whole family.
As Allison showed her father more heartbreaking and disgusting messages concerning her appearance, Michael showed Allison how easy it was to look up her bully’s family on Facebook in order to help her make additional judgments about their social class. Most fathers would have told their daughter they were beautiful and left it at that, but Michael went above and beyond by providing his daughter with an extensive knowledge about sharply declining property values in the neighborhood her bully lived in.
Thanks to Michael’s incredible parenting, Allison’s confidence skyrocketed, as she returned to school well-equipped to rebut any bullying with a comment about how infrequently her tormentor can afford to go to the dentist. And it was clear that Michael’s efforts worked, as Allison came home from school all smiles, having left her bully in tears instead of being the one crying herself.
You go, Michael! You have truly given your daughter the devastating class awareness to stand up for herself now and in the future. We couldn’t be more jealous of Allison for having the most wonderful dad in the world!
